147. Special Effects (1984) – Part 1

We’re closing out Larry Cohen Month this week with 1984’s Special Effects, a movie that is sure to be an exercise in film commentary and sleaziness. In the first ten minutes, we find ourselves in a niche peep show, meet a woman who’s voice is dubbed by Rue McClanahan, and see a cowbaby (a cowboy baby). Also: Josh is consumed by the notion of J.J.’s Apricot Lot, which sends him down an interesting rabbit hole. Come back on Thursday for Part 2.
